Phil and James Younghusband are looking forward to the Azkals’ entry to the 2014 Challenge Cup main tournament in the Maldives.
This after the Azkals won both of their matches against Cambodia and Turkmenistan, in last week’s qualifiers in Manila. Phil led the Philippines back to the main draw after scoring a total of five goals: 4 against Cambodia and 1 against Turkmenistan. James, meantime, came in as a substitute in the win over the Turkmen.
Though Phil will miss the first match in the main tourney because of his red card the brothers believe, the team’s improved cohesion will be key to their success.
The Younghusbands hope there will be more time for the team to bond as the athletes do not play for the national team full-time.
Phil and James also anticipate for more competition against foreign teams to further build skill and confidence among their teammates.
